Silver Ponyfoot

Silver Ponyfoot is a low-growing groundcover prized for its silvery-green foliage and delicate trailing stems. This versatile plant thrives in full sun to partial shade, making it an excellent choice for borders, rock gardens, and ground-level planting areas where you want soft, textural interest without high maintenance demands.

While native to Texas only in the West, Silver Ponyfoot adapts well to naturalized garden settings and provides ecological value as a nectar source for pollinators. Its dense growth habit helps suppress weeds and prevents soil erosion on slopes and disturbed areas, reducing the need for chemical intervention.

Gardeners appreciate Silver Ponyfoot for its year-round visual appeal and ability to fill spaces between larger plants with minimal care. The foliage takes on warmer bronze tones in cooler seasons, adding seasonal color variation. Historically, this plant has been used in traditional herbal practices, though it is primarily valued today as an ornamental groundcover that softens hardscape edges and creates flowing transitions in landscaped beds.
