Olla (clay pot irrigation)

An olla is a simple yet highly effective watering system designed to deliver moisture directly to plant roots where it's needed most. This unglazed clay pot is buried partially in soil near your plants, then filled with water. As the soil dries, it naturally absorbs water from the olla, creating a slow, consistent water supply that reduces waste and keeps roots hydrated during hot weather and drought conditions.

Ollas are ideal for native plants and groundcovers that thrive in naturalized landscapes. They minimize surface evaporation, eliminate the need for frequent hand-watering, and promote deeper, healthier root systems. Perfect for vegetable gardens, perennial beds, and any planting area where you want to conserve water while supporting plant health with minimal maintenance.
